temptation
I wonder if the young Jesus ever had to take tests and exams....
because it is written," Do not put the Lord your God to the test."!!! - Matthew 4:7
many thanks to paul for all the inspirations and laughter =)
we had discussion about temptation today during YG. ailene brought sweets from melbourne....they're really cute and sweet (like duh!!). after much reflection, i guess the holy spirit's really been manifesting itself in me all these while...especially in controlling my past experiences of 'sudden outburst of flaming remarks'( you get the idea). i thank God for the inner peace that i enjoy everyday, which leads to my state of emotional stability...not forgetting my parents who're always there for me too.
temptation, so many of us fall for it. God who is in control of everything allows us to be tempted so that we, when having defeated temptation, can grow stronger in faith and character. but realise that God does not just leave us to be tempted without any support, for it is written,
"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful, He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." - 1 Corinthians 10:13
there is the analogy of the young butterfly coming out of its coccoon. it first have to struggle, so that its wings can be filled with the fluids from the coccoon thus giving it a degree of turgidity to be able to help the young insect fly(correct me if i'm wrong). if someone comes along and helps to open the coccoon, the butterfly will not be able to fly..thus falling from its position.
it is just like how we need to overcome temptation in order to grow stronger. and the greatest part of it all is that temptation can be overcome.
"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are- yet was without sin." -Hebrews 4:15
"And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one." - Matthew 6:13
